Emily was transferred today to Shibuya, which is one of the 23 districts that make up the core of the Tokyo metropolitan area. So yeah...she's in the "big city", that's for sure! The transfer came as a surprise, so her email is brief. She writes:
I got transferred to Shibuya!!!!
What happened was there was an unexpected Shimai that came from the MTC. She'd stayed only 3 weeks and came with the 6-weekers because she knew lots of Japanese already. So, last minute they needed a trainer. So....I got transferred!
Right now I am at the Honbu (mission home). All the trainers and new missionaries are here. The Shibuya sisters came to our apartment this morning and together we 4 came to the honbu. Yes, that means I am a threesome! My companions are Swasey Shimai and Eddington Shimai. Swasey Shimai is part Japanese. Her English is very good! Eddington Shimai is from San Jose if I remember correctly. San something anyways. She is tall and has red hair.
My life changed overnight! Phew! Today we have an apt. at 5 and then a dinner apt. after. Apparently in Shibuya you eat at member's houses a lot. There are 4 church wards in Shibuya and three are English speaking
Did you know that we put dehumidifiers in our closets? I took a picture. It is at first full of dry stuff that sucks in moisture. When it fills up with water to a certain point you get a new one.
Spring has come! I am wearing nylons today instead of the tights. And I am happy because I got a bigger basket for the bike. Fujimura Choro gave it to me. He was serving in Kanagawa last transfer. Last transfer was his last transfer.
I taught Nagase Shimai how to say "I'm down with that" and told her to say it at the next district meeting. On another note, she asked what the duper of super duper meant. It make me think... it has no meaning! Ha ha!
In the United States can you buy mugicha, the tea that you drink in Japan? They drink it all the time here. The tea I sent home is different. Nagase
Shimai says it tastes like Japanese medicine but I like it. Apparently ginseng is good for you! Super!I love, love you! Thanks for all your support and please thank the ward too. Man, I am so excited for this new adventure I am embarking on.... Shibuya! Did you say the Oga family knows people there!?
Ai shite imasu yo!
Maku Shimai
